Rooks

The rook is the second strongest piece, worth about five pawns. Rooks are also very simple in their method of movement. Rooks move horizontally and vertically (as opposed to diagonally as do bishops). They cannot jump over pieces, and their method of capturing enemy pieces is to simply move onto the square that the enemy unit occupies.
